The Rebel<\/h2>\n

Rebel rebel break the rule,<\/p>\n

What does it matter that a “wise” man sees a fool.<\/p>\n

Not for you the herd’s dull beat<\/p>\n

Making tomorrow, yesterday’s repeat,<\/p>\n

Living out the life of a clone<\/p>\n

Marching with the crowd but always alone.<\/p>\n

Shaping your life from some dusty tome<\/p>\n

Playing it safe, staying at home.<\/p>\n

Rebel rebel break the rule<\/p>\n

Swim in the sea, never the pool.<\/p>\n

Live your emotions, feel the surge<\/p>\n

Follow your dreams, chase the urge.<\/p>\n

Make life though short, an exciting game<\/p>\n

Not a mad march for fortune or fame.<\/p>\n

Capture the moment, live it now<\/p>\n

Being alive your only vow.<\/p>\n

Rebel rebel break the rule<\/p>\n

In the end, you’re humanity’s jewel.<\/p>\n

Shared Humanity<\/h2>\n

To have the courage of a shared humanity<\/p>\n

The humbleness of a beggars need,<\/p>\n

Say the things our heart can feel<\/p>\n

So doing, nurture compassion’s seed.<\/p>\n

See the others bleeding wound<\/p>\n

Hear their silent pain,<\/p>\n

Bestow on them your Golden Fleece<\/p>\n

No hesitance, no thought of gain.<\/p>\n

Walk life’s rugged twisting path<\/p>\n

Offering each traveller your hand,<\/p>\n

Sense the warmth return ten fold<\/p>\n

Humanity covering the land.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Grand Plans<\/h2>\n

In this world where we serve oblivion<\/p>\n

with a blind pride and sure conviction<\/p>\n

creating plans to land a man on Mars<\/p>\n

grandiose schemes to conquer the stars<\/p>\n

eyes on horizons ever further afield<\/p>\n

believing, to us the universe will yield.<\/p>\n

Yet here on Earth we fail to see<\/p>\n

a chaotic world of human debris,<\/p>\n

our magnificent results thus far<\/p>\n

a planet dying from a human scar,<\/p>\n

oblivious that our plans sublime<\/p>\n

are mere litter scattered in space and time.<\/p>\n

Patriotism<\/h2>\n

No, I shall not die for the fluttering flag,<\/p>\n

if truth be known, ’tis nothing but a multi-coloured rag<\/p>\n

held aloft by some foolish hand<\/p>\n

inciting worker and peasant to kill<\/p>\n

on some green and wooded hill,<\/p>\n

peasant and worker from some other land.<\/p>\n

Nor shall I shed blood for the fluttering rag<\/p>\n

that brings out fools to stand and brag<\/p>\n

of brutal deeds painted grand,<\/p>\n

deeds where rustic and craftsman lie so still<\/p>\n

killed by my brothers' misguided hand.<\/p>\n

No allegiance have I for the Nation<\/p>\n

this man made autocratic creation<\/p>\n

that divides my brothers in a world so small,<\/p>\n

binds us to a country's cause, right or wrong,<\/p>\n

bids us follow its drum, sing its song,<\/p>\n

then sheds our blood in some border brawl.<\/p>\n

No, I'll be no slave to flag or nation,<\/p>\n

have no ear for power oration,<\/p>\n

though its iron heel is on my breast,<\/p>\n

my back feels its leather thong,<\/p>\n
