Perhaps Guilt!<\/h2>\n

Refugees, displaced persons,<\/p>\n

ethnic cleansed, homeless,<\/p>\n

those, who in this world<\/p>\n

experience death before dying;<\/p>\n

to stir our apathetic hearts<\/p>\n

you invade the comfort of our homes<\/p>\n

through hi-tec images, internet-info.<\/p>\n

Like satellite pictures<\/p>\n

beamed from another galaxy<\/p>\n

we gaze in disbelief.<\/p>\n

Perhaps guilt makes us feel relieved<\/p>\n

when the picture changes<\/p>\n

to the latest soap<\/p>\n

or some healthy life-style show.<\/p>\n

How can we comprehend such pain,<\/p>\n

such raw anguish<\/p>\n

from the comfort of an armchair?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

When the Time-Bomb Goes Off<\/h2>\n

The bike just sits there,<\/p>\n

dust covering its lovely sheen,<\/p>\n

puffing up the Fintry Hills<\/p>\n

well, it’s no longer my scene.<\/p>\n

Y’see, as a Clydeside apprentice<\/p>\n

I proudly learnt the tradesman’s skill,<\/p>\n

little did I know then<\/p>\n

the price, asbestos lungs that kill.<\/p>\n

Now I just sit here through the painful day<\/p>\n

gasping each mouthful of air, wondering<\/p>\n

how can I make the bastards pay.<\/p>\n

They new it was a killer<\/p>\n

a time-bomb in our lungs<\/p>\n

but, because it was so quick and cheap<\/p>\n

they firmly held their tongues.<\/p>\n

So what, if it cost the workman’s life,<\/p>\n

there’s always a couple of new workers<\/p>\n

in the care of the worker’s wife.<\/p>\n

Please try to understand my anger<\/p>\n

as I and others bear their cost,<\/p>\n

a slow death from asbestos lungs,<\/p>\n

a vibrant life lost.<\/p>\n

Anguish for family and friends,<\/p>\n

all in the name of profit;<\/p>\n

now that really does offend.<\/p>\n

Our anger without direction<\/p>\n

is a blind archer behind the bow,<\/p>\n

we have to use our anger<\/p>\n
