A Needless Sea of Tears<\/h2>\n

Though we live in a world of callous commerce<\/p>\n

and know justice<\/p>\n

is an altar where the caring are sacrificed,<\/p>\n

see freedom as a river that runs parched<\/p>\n

in the fierce desert of poverty,<\/p>\n

our thoughts cannot be chained<\/p>\n

our dreams will not be caged.<\/p>\n

We will think beyond the profit race<\/p>\n

dream beyond the market place<\/p>\n

in friendship clasp each human hand<\/p>\n

with compassion try to understand<\/p>\n

our differences, our hopes, our fears,<\/p>\n

dragging this world from its needless sea of tears.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Eighteen Hungry Children<\/h2>\n

Eighteen hungry children die<\/p>\n

every minute of every day<\/p>\n

eighteen of tomorrow’s people<\/p>\n

cruelly thrown away.<\/p>\n

When pandering to a fashion<\/p>\n

gratifying our greed,<\/p>\n

think, theirs is no desire<\/p>\n

but a basic need.<\/p>\n

Envisage a familiar face<\/p>\n

a child that calls your name,<\/p>\n

try to be the parent<\/p>\n

try to place the blame.<\/p>\n

Eighteen hungry children die<\/p>\n

every minute of every day,<\/p>\n

eighteen little faces<\/p>\n

that never learnt to play.<\/p>\n

Walk past your local school<\/p>\n

listen to the shrill,<\/p>\n

stand and count to sixty<\/p>\n

imagine hunger start to kill.<\/p>\n

Fingers must be pointed<\/p>\n

at decisions made on high,<\/p>\n

questions must be asked<\/p>\n

loudly asked by you and I.<\/p>\n

Eighteen hungry children die<\/p>\n

every minute of every day,<\/p>\n

eighteen precious lives<\/p>\n

the claws of hunger slay.<\/p>\n
